A Night at the Opera, Saturday 18 June 2016

A great night out was promised, in the Barn on Horsham's Causeway, and a great night it was! A record audience of over 70 enjoyed choral music from a wide variety of Operas ranging from Monteverdi and Purcell at one end of the spectrum, through Mozart to Borodin, Mascagni, Wagner and Sullivan at the other.

The Barn is a new venue for Horsham Chamber Choir, and very suitable it turned out to be, great acoustics, and a Bar which added to the gaiety of the evening. Under the leadership of Jenny Hansell, the Choir portrayed a range of emotions from sad, thoughtful and joyous, with notable solos from Anna Brean, Sarah Russell and Andrew Robinson, and from Jenny herself. Elizabeth Burtenshaw, who regularly accompanies the Choir, was really put through her paces replicating a full Opera Orchestra on the piano.
